The project site is situated at the edge of the town of Scoppito, on one of the first lots of a much larger development. In direct contact with the road, the site enjoys southern exposure and views across the forested slopes of Mount Sirente. The concept is based on the interaction between a pure square and a parallelepiped above it. The square base generates the external surface wrapping the entire project in dark brick. The ‘Box’, sitting atop this volume, contains the first floor. It is finished in white plaster, like the cut that traverses the main elevation of the base. The entire building, three stories in height, takes on a twofold nature: almost blind side elevations with a regular brick finish, and the main elevation that reveals the L-shape of the parti, with the upper level projecting out over the entrance to create a large portico that extends the interior spaces outward. The ground floor features a large living area open onto the garden and closed toward the south-east by the open kitchen. The main entrance – a full height space lit by a skylight – connects with the rectilinear stair leading to the upper level, featuring four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large terrace atop the base volume. The master bedroom occupies the end of the building and enjoys the most privileged view of the surrounding mountainous landscape. The basement level features a double garage, cellars and technical rooms, as well as a large recreational space opening onto an underground patio on the south-east side.
