The biunivocal relation between park and built environment is the starting point of this architectural design, intent on capturing the opportunity to transform a current urban void into a part of the city where the school can help renew its surroundings and offer the community a new space of identity. The street that currently separates the lot from the other school buildings is transformed into a uniting “spine”, creating a unique educational campus where a green line transposes the valley into the heart of the city. The park is identified with the notion of a forest whose trees, transmuting into geometric elements, transform the line of contact between school and park into a space shared between nature and architecture. The building is the result of a dialogue between a rigid external perimeter and an organic form cutting into it. The management of the system of entrances and internal functions defines a structure open to citizens also outside of school hours.
Internal layouts are designed to optimise the spaces dedicated to education, which benefit from a privileged relationship with nature and light. All of the classrooms are two stories in height, in direct contact with the natural setting, while the common areas – the gym and dormitory – are set around them. A school intent on respecting elevated characteristics of sustainability and performance and a building organism itself. The objective is to make the building an educational device in its own right through an osmotic relationship between nature, A school intent on respecting elevated characteristics of sustainability and performance and a building organism itself.
